Trim Video File

Previous Top Next

A common scenario in post-production is to trim the "head and tail" of a video file, also know as cropping.

This is often useful when an operator would like to start Recording several minutes BEFORE the actual speaker begins.  This allows the operator begin recording and verify audio, video and image inputs are functioning properly.  It allows the operator to not have to worry about beginning exactly as the presenter begins speaking.  Also, the operator is free to Stop recording at a point in time after a speaker has completely finished.

By trimming the presentation during post-production, you can ensure your viewers only view the exact beginning and end of the presentation.

To Trim a presentation:

1.  Using the Video Playback tools, determine where you would like to have the presentation Start and End ( for this example below, I will use 00:00:15 (or 15 seconds in) as my Start time and 00:02:22 (or 2 min 22 secs out) as my End time.

2.   Click the Trim button on the Media Controls Bar

7.  Click Yes

Notice that your presentation is 30 seconds shorter (00:02:07 ) than the original ( 00:02:37 ) - because we trimmed the first 15 seconds and the last 15 seconds.  Also all remaining slides are kept in synch with the new video file.
