Create from Segment

Previous Top Next

You may create a new presentation by specifying a subset (or segment) of an existing presentation.  This is particularly useful when you have captured a long presentation that spans multiple speakers, and you wish to create a group of shorter, separate presentations for each speaker.  You can then edit each presentation separately, making the editing process more manageable.

To create a New Presentation from an Existing presentation:

1.   Click the Presentation drop-down button createfromsegmentb1 to the right of the Current Presentation list:

2.   Select  the Create From Segment... option from the drop-down menu

createfromsegmentb2

3.   This will open the Create New Presentation from Segment window:

4.   Enter the basic Presentation Details just as you have when Adding/Editing Presentations in the previous section.

Enter a Presentation Title,  Presenter, Summary and Date/Time of presentation.

createfromsegmentb5Note:  Presentation Title is the only required field, but it is recommended that enter as much information as you can about this presentation.  Also, the Presentation Title must be unique across all presentations within a Project.  If you try to title a presentation with an title that already exists, you will be prompted with the following error message:

5.   Next, specify either a New Start and End Slide for the new presentation or specify a New Start and End Time.  Choosing which option to create your subset presenation is a matter of choice.  In the screenshot below, we've specified the first 1 minute (00:01:00) of the presentation, which includes Slides 1 through 3.  By setting our Start Slide to 1 and our End Slide to 3, the Start and End Times are automatically set, as slides 1-3 occur between 00:00:00 and 00:01:00.

6.   Click OK.  You will be prompted with a status window - wait until that window closes and the process completes.

7.   Once the process completes you will be back on the Review Tab with the newly created presentation set as your Current Presentation.  Notice in the screenshot below:

1.   The current presentation is: "Intro to the Brief Overview - Carmen"

2.   The duration of the new presentation is 00:01:00

3.   There are 3 slides in this new presentation

4.   The original presentation remains unchanged

createfromsegmentb9 Sample Usage: So, in our above example, we captured a presentation that was 02:32 in length (See Step 3 - End Time).  However, there were 2 speakers.  The speaker "Carmen Ferrara" provided a 1 minute introduction and spoke to 3 slides.  So, we'd like to break the introduction into it's own presentation.  To do so, we've specified a Start slide of 1 and an End slide of 3.  As you can see from the screenshot above (in Step 5)  the Set Start/End Time becomes automatically set to 00:00:00 and 00:01:00 respectively. Now, clicking OK will create a new Presentation that will include Slides 1 - 3 and will contain 1 minute of video.  Everything will remain in synch.  Also, the original presentation will remain entact with no changes made.

createfromsegmentb10 Note:   You may access the main Review Tab screen while the Create From Segment window is open.  You may playback the video file for the Current Presentation and use the slider control to skip around the video to find the start and end times for your new presentation.  Also, you may set the New Start/End Time values by either manually entering a Start/End values directly into the textboxes or you can drag the 2 Red Bars (shown in the screenshot above in Step 5) to set the Start/End times for the New Presentation.
